I grew up on a farm in the Northern province of South Africa, studied Languages and Education at the University of Pretoria, became the mother of four amazing children, all while relentlessly pursuing my passion for creating images and telling stories.
From a young age I drew and made figures from clay and other raw material I could find… In 1990 I had the privilege to live on the Comore Islands and it was here that I started painting, using water colors. Back in South Africa I switched to oils and in 2000 I sold my first painting !
Over the years I took part in numerous group – and held several solo exhibitions; my work was featured in magazines and, on occasion, on television. My work forms part of private collections locally as well as abroad.
Creating works of art that are unique, based on my own experience, encounters and view of the world and our existence, is my aim.
While I started using photography to create reference images for my paintings, it soon became a medium for creating art itself.
Over the last 15 years I exhibited several bodies of work mainly in venues and galleries in and around Cape Town. In the work I explored themes of hidden desire, dreams, love, things that haunt and intrigue us, the vulnerable self and relationship dynamics.
In 2021 I received the international OIV Jury Recognition award for my photographic work in the multi-award winning book Passion for Pairing.
